Issue and articles

How has film genre changed and developed?

Depending on age/ earer the audiences are in the types of films made corrilate with the problems or issues faced with those audiences. eg. most vampire horrors made in 1970s were vampires due to HIV being a main concern.

The December 2013 gothic issue;

  • Dracula first ever vampire film based on the 1897 Gothic novel. the vampires are presented as monsters blood sucking creatures, and appearance wise they loom scary and horrific.
  • in comparison to the glamoured appearances of vampires in the 21st century in eg twilight and vampire diaries.
  • there fore changing the ways movies are presented to benefit the audiences eyes, berger(female gaze) and mulvey(male gaze)

The December 2013 gothic issue;
  • I walk with a zombie made 1943, its supposed to be a gothic horror about black magic
  • it still has that film noire mise en scene and music
  • with super natural and horrific effects
  • this correlated with the concern that was faced by people in that day and age, being hexed or afraid of encounters with a witch.
The april 2013 film issue;

  • mocking jay a futuristic sifi adventure realistic
  • in comparison to mutant haunt a 1987 sifi about cybords had problems in looking realist due to lack of resources due to not discovering 'the green screen'
  • therefore quality has changes and improved and looks more futuristic and realistc
